The government officials of health department visited the hunger strike camp of medical students and constituted a committee to address their issues.
Balochistan Health secretary Asmat Ullah Karar and additional secretary Doctor Abdul Rauf visited the striking students and listened to their grievances in detail. The students presented their demands and asked them to take steps for the early commencement of classes in new medical colleges.
The government officials made them sure that the new medical colleges would be made functional as soon as possible and a committee was constituted to address the matter.
Additional Secretary Doctor Abdul Rauf will head the committee.
Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) and medical students had set up a hunger strike camp in front of Quetta Press Club for making the new medical colleges functional.
After striking for more than a week, they successfully brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities; however, it is still to be seen whether the committee will seriously lead the matter to a solution or it was just to disperse the striking students.
