Mufti Abdul Qavi has declared Qandeel Baloch and all other women killed in the name of honour as martyrs.
Talking to journalists in Multan he said “Killing the women in the name of honour is not justified and is not in accordance with Islamic rules.”
Mufti Qavi’s selfies with Qandeel Baloch went viral and he also received harsh criticism from the masses for this act of ‘disrespecting religion’. Mufti is a prominent name in the religious circles.
Mufti said he would write a journal on honour killing where he would provide references from Holy Quran and sayings of Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH) to prove honour killing illegitimate and un-Islamic.
He said he was interrogated by police several times with regard to the death of Qandeel Baloch and the interrogation was recorded on video.
Mufti blamed that some anti-Islam forces were trying to declare him the killer of Qandeel Baloch.
“Around nineteen foreign publications interviewed me after the death of Qandeel Baloch”, maintained Mufti.
He said he was not in contact with the brother of Qandeel Baloch who killed his sister for bringing a bad name to the family and society.
“My name is not included in the FIR registered for the murder of Qandeel Baloch, but I will not hesitate to present myself to the police whenever they need me,” he said.
