Balochistan, once known as the little Paris, has become the hub of terrorist attacks. There have been number of target killings in Quetta and most often the victims are poor citizens. Terrorism is the cruelest of crimes which kills less criminals, but more innocent citizens. Terrorism has no absolute and globally accepted definition. If simply stated, terror is extreme or intense fear.
Mastung bombing, the blast on Friday resulted in martyrdom of 128 people, including Balochistan Awami Party candidate Nawab Siraj Raisani. Three out of more than 200 injured persons succumbed to their wounds on Saturday.
Authorities said the suicide bomber detonated in the middle of a compound where the political meeting was taking place, in Mastung’s Darengarh area. The blast was the latest in a string of attacks that have spurred fears of violence ahead of the general election on July 25.
There are no words to speak about Balochistan attacks. It hurts me to mention that again and again Balochistan is being chained under terrorism.
It has to be remembered that Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan province, has seen frequent attacks targeting government buildings and security forces, as well as civilians. In August last year, at least 74 people were killed in a suicide attack on the city’s Civil Hospital, while another 60 were killed in an attack on a police academy two months later.
Similar pattern of attacks taking place in Balochistan shows the complete failure of security forces. Such attacks seem to be unstoppable and thousands of people have already lost their lives. So, I highly condemn such coward acts and at same time appeal to the law enforcement agencies to bring every terrorist into justice. Moreover, he national action plan should be implemented in real time in the province for the sake of bringing to an end to these terrorist attacks once and for all.
