A report regarding HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) states that twenty-nine prisoners have been diagnosed with HIV in different jails of Balochistan.
According to the report, twenty four prisoners are in central jail of Gadani, four in district jail of Quetta and one is in district jail of Loralai.
This report was submitted by the AIDS (Acquired immunodeficiency Syndrome) control program. The report disclosed that out of 2,300 effected prisoners, twenty-nine were found in the different jails of Balochistan.
However, a report published in The News pointed out that ‘Worst health condition of prisoners in Balochistan, total 181 cases of HIV, HCV are reported in which 14 HIV patients are in Gaddani Jail.’
AIDS control program’s spokesperson Doctor Noor said that most of the people were addicted to drugs and used the same injection multiple times. Doctor Noor maintained that all the prisoners would undergo the test.
I humbly request the health minister of Balochistan and the concerned authorities to take action on this issue.
