The Alchemist is one of the most motivational and inspirational books by Paulo Coelho, published in 1988. It has been translated in eighty languages, with over 150 million copies sold and it is one of the most read books worldwide. It is a masterpiece and self-help book that scrutinizes persistency, spiritual love and commitment.
The story starts with a young boy named Santiago. The boy travels towards Egypt to understand the real purpose of life and to fulfill his dreams. During the journey, he met with different people like Salem, Alchemist, merchant and Fatima from whom he got inspiration to reach the target. He learnt different lessons and knowledge from the people whom he met. From Alchemist, he got true guidance of achieving his dreams for which had to sacrifice each and everything. He saw a dream near a sycamore tree of the church. In this dream a boy told him to visit Egyptian pyramids for searching the hidden treasure. He was completely encouraged to move towards achieving his goal.
“You came so that you could learn about dreams, dreams are the language of God. When he speaks in our language, I can interpret what he has said. But he speaks in the language of the soul, it is only you who can understand.”- Alchemist.
Life is a problematic journey embodied with hard times, pains, sorrows, hopes and joys. The people who confront their destination are always committed for the accomplishment of their dream. Each step of life teaches a different lesson, it is important for every individual to explore their own personal legend, no matter how difficult a journey becomes. If one is following one’s dreams, one might face several challenges but it needs spirit, courage and determination. On the other hand, everything begins within the heart and mind. The greatest achievement begins in the mind of a person. Therefore, one needs to be positive and real while working for that particular field. “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” Always be one of the motivational sources to encourage yourself with hope and optimism.
“There is only one thing that makes our dreams impossible to achieve it; the fear of failure. Never giving up is one of the greatest attitudes that one should carry it at the last moment of his/her life. No matter, how the situation is, you should keep struggling and fighting with obstacles and difficulties. Failure is the first step of success. Even though you have failed it, you should stand up with courage and determination and try it again and again till you achieve your dream. But never give up on dreams, there are ups and downs, there are bumps in the way so you are driver of the car and don’t make them an option to stop you for achieving your destination that you have to reach. And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” -The Alchemist.
Nothing is easy and nothing is impossible. If one wants to achieve something then one has to be prepared for tough times and circumstances. Because hindrances and obstacles are always present to stop one’s way. But one has to ignore these all and stay persistent towards one’s goal and destination. People will try to demotivate and criticize but one needs to confront the obstacles.
The Alchemist is one of the masterpieces. One can find good pieces to understand the reality of life and world. I highly recommend this book to every reader to read, because it tells the real purpose of life and makes the readers understand to be faithful about destiny.
