Recently, the government of Pakistan announced a program “Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme” to help those daily wagers who are greatly affected due to nation-wide lockdowns imposed to control the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
The forms were supposed to be filled online to get registered in it. As I took the CNIC numbers of many needy and daily wagers of my area to get their names registered for the said program so that they would be able to feed their family in these hard times. But sadly, their forms were rejected as not being eligible for the program.
On, the other hand, hundreds of rich people applied and got registered. If these poor wagers are not eligible then who is this relief for? Is it for those who are already strong financially and should these daily wagers die due to starvation?
It is a request to government to make a proper mechanism for distribution of the cash to those who are in dire need of three times meals.
