The forty-four-minutes Balochi movie ‘Drama’ is a beautiful watch of how Balochi film industry suffers from financial, technical and moral crisis. Despite it provides multiple benefits and functions in the changing mindsets of individuals, the Balochi film industry remains the least supported in our society.
Seth Khalil shaped ‘Drama’ very beautifully in a room. The movie begins and ends in the sole room which is a very tough task when making a movie. But, I appreciate how the team of Drama has managed the whole story so lovely.
It is a Zaamur production with the direction of Seth Khalil, voice recording by Assa Dashti, edited by Mahjabeen Baloch and story and dialogues by Saeed Shad. The movie stares Saeed Shad, Ijaz Ahmed, Mohammad Hoth, Tariq Pishukani, Mohammad Lal, Dr. Ghulam Qadir, Atta Ullah Baloch and Assa Dashti.
To me in person, one of the main things the Balochi Movie conveyed is a lack of producers in making Balochi films. It results in making poor quality of movies which are often disliked by the public.
“We do take interests in wasting our money in irrelevant things, why don’t we give a little bit to making Balochi films?” the movie asks the Baloch public.
Drama looks like a philosophical make. It tacitly tells about a great many happenings of the Baloch society. Most of the happenings relate to the Balochi film industry.
From the happenings, a crisis of good actors is a massive issue. The main causes that keep good actors away from Balochi movies is a lack of future of the film industry in the Baloch society. Secondly, the actors do not receive a handsome pay from the filmmakers which compel them to quit this field.
Even though, most of the parents keep their children away from acting as a profession, but a short term interest only. As per a natural law, if you do not take a profession seriously, the profession does not accept you seriously either. If we, the Baloch, do not make acting a noble profession as it is in abroad, we are never gonna overcome the crisis when making films.
Secondly, because the public do not support the filmmakers, they go ignored and backward. Since the films are made for the public, we are ought to derive our full support towards them and help them in every possible way.
The Drama showed it so clearly that how in the movie, the drama was about to end in the middle because of no financial support_ from either the well-to-do people or common public, no one helped them out. But, the actor, Babu, in the movie sold his gun to help the drama is completed.
If the movies are made for the entire society, why only the film management authorities need to give all the sacrifices? If we do not come forward to promoting the Balochi film industry, who else would come and do it for us? Since they are not supported by our government either.
All in all, the movie was a pulchritudinous make. In Balochi film industry we see less directors directing movies in a single spot. Dr. Haneef Sharif Is one of the directors who mainly focuses on movies in a single place as Balochistan hotel and Kareem are his two famous and most successful movies.
Finally, we hope to see more and more meaningful movies in the Balochi language. No matter how short the movie is, it must always give something deep wondering which I felt Drama gave. I congratulate the team of Drama for the wonderful movie and wish them best of luck for their future goals. And I would like to request the Baloch community to come forward and support Baloch artists in getting success and promotion. Government must also play their role to promoting Balochi movies.
