International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th of March every year. It is to praise and encourage women who work hard every day to accomplish their individual and professional goals. No doubt, this global day is also celebrated for social, cultural and political achievements of women. Hence, the day is observed by conducting different events including movements across the world.
Besides this, this day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity, raising awareness about women’s equality, focusing on females’ charities and many more. The given day is a focal point in the movement for women’s rights. People talk of the rights of women, particularly women themselves, and other related issues which women face on daily basis.
On the other hand, in most countries, women are not treated equally which leads them to spend their day in marches or protests. They only ask for an equal share in opportunities which they require fundamentally.
Sadly, for many other people, the role of women is limited to household chores. They do not allow them to get education, which is totally a misconception. Because women, too, have the rights to education, movement, work, speech, and many more. But unfortunately, they are tortured, killed in the name of honor, mistreated and raped.
Therefore, this day is celebrated so that a message is spread all across the world that women are no less than males and they must be treated equally. In very simple words, the efforts, made by women, need same appreciation as men’s. They deserve equal opportunities so that they may rise and prove themselves beneficial for their societies.
