Medical students across Pakistan have been recording their protest for the last several days against alleged irregularities in Medical entry test, conducted by Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC).
The protests were organized by medical students, political organizations and civil society in Quetta, Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
Quetta police have forcefully dispersed the protesting students by baton-charging and locking them up in the jail. Last night the police once again baton-charged and arrested dozens of students who were on a sit-in protest outside Governor House in capital city of Quetta. Several students are also reported to be injured and admitted in hospital.
Hundreds of students from different parts of Balochistan have appeared in the test for 300 medical seats of Bolan Medical College.
The medical students allege that there was zero transparency in the test, conducted by PMC. Students have complained that even many of the candidates who did not appear in test are declared fail.
The demands of the students include:
- Cancellation of online test and make arrangements for taking the test physically.
- Passing marks criteria should be reduced to 50 percent.
- Entry test should be conducted by provincial institutions instead of Pakistan Medical Commission.
Political organizations and medical students have announced to continue their protest till the fulfillment of their demands.
