The new initiative of the Ehsaas program is known to be a business to earn money from the poverty-stricken students. Since they are paying extra charges of a deed of the agreement form. Prime Minister Imran Khan has started a scholarship namely Ehsaas undergraduate program for the students to have stipends and free of cost education at the university level. But unfortunately, this program has become a type of earning money procedure for the authorities_ that too from the needy students who have applied for the Ehsaas undergraduate scholarship program 2019-20.
Reportedly, the shortlisted candidates of University of Turbat are 654. After their nominations, they are said to buy the Deed of agreement form from the said “photo stationery” which costs 300 rupees per each form along with the signature of Oath Commissioner of the city. If we take out the entire aggregate of the money they receive, they become 3,27000 rupees from these students along with some other documentations.
Is this helping the needy students or snatching their pocket money to pay for the forms? Is the Ehsaas program fully funded for low-income students or this would be a new trend of doing business?
I myself have been a student of the University. I could judge the faces of pupils in such conditions who were in tension with regards to their semester fees along the other parts of forms filling procedure.
If you are providing scholarships to the awardees, then you must not take any money from the poor students. Neither I am the awardee of Ehsaas undergraduate program nor a student of the present university, but definitely, I can feel the pain the poor students are facing. Because they do not have enough money for the food to eat and being compelled to pay for the fully-funded scholarship to each of 500 rupees along with other things.
Being at the same level, everyone must feel the harsh conditions of such students who are not ready to proceed with their studies only due to the semester fees and other facilities. This small amount of 500-1000 rupees means a lot to a needy student which does not let them pay it easily.
The forms should be available for at least an affordable price for the students though the signature is being bought in this level. So, the authorized persons must take immediate actions on which poor students should remain happy to avail such programs without any gain of difficulties.
